Healing Wounds from the Past - TBA

Sacred Relating Seminars

Our Philosophy:

We believe that when two people enter into relationship, they make a sacred contract with each other to learn important life lessons. This perspective helps couples to view their partnership as a blessing that is teaching them something profound.

In the Sacred Relating Seminars we encourage couples to search for the deeper purpose of their relationship by asking:

  • What life lessons am I working out with my partner?

  • Why did I choose this relationship – consciously and unconsciously?

  • How is this relationship transforming me?

This kind of inquiry brings tremendous clarity, helps shift blame and invites a spiritual perspective that is freeing and transforming. Please join us in this journey of discovery.

Our Personal Experience:

In our experience of 28 years of marriage, we needed more than talking about our relationship to solve our problems. We needed something more powerful to break up old patterns and break through to new ways of relating. The shift came when we began using sacred healing techniques - ritual, drumming, chanting, and guided meditation - to reach parts of us that were hidden, buried or locked. As a couple, we experienced profound shifts when we called in a sacred presence to surround and nurture our partnership and included ritual work to accelerate our healing and transformation. We now offer these sacred healing techniques to other couples wanting to deepen intimacy together.

Our Approach:

In our approach to healing work with couples, we integrate traditional western therapies and various sacred healing arts. As Interfaith Ministers, we also value the spiritual wisdom from many traditions, including Jewish Kabbalah, Christianity and African and Native American spirituality.

Traditional Western Therapies:

  • Family Systems Dynamics

  • Jungian Psychology (understanding archetypes and the shadow)

  • Personality Assessments such as MBTI® (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®) instrument, and the FIRO-B® instruments, which looks at interpersonal needs

Sacred Arts:

  • Ritual, Drumming, Chanting, Storytelling, Guided Meditation and Shamanic Journeying

Seminar

Deepening Intimacy and Communication

March 21 & 22, 2009

This Sacred Relating seminar helps couples deepen their intimacy and communication skills through “sacred relating”. Sacred relating begins when couples learn how to create sacred space for each other, being present and playful, offering time to listen deeply, learning to speak truth with compassion and being open to the transformative power of their relationship. An important aspect of sacred relating is getting to know and appreciate your partner’s complex and unique personality. To do this, we will participate in powerful exercises and take some well-known personality assessments, such as the MBTI® - the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® and the FIRO-B® instruments, which looks at interpersonal needs. These tools will help couples identify how each person expresses their wants and needs, solves problems, resolves conflict and makes decisions. We will experience deepening compassion, more openness and acceptance and more space to love our partners for exactly who they are! This seminar will include a ritual to open the heart and deepen our level of trust and compassion for each other.

Seminar

Healing Wounds from the Past

Date to be announced

This Sacred Relating Seminar helps us explore what we bring to our present relationship from our past - from our family of origin. We will look at the patterns of communication and intimacy that we learned growing up, patterns that both enhance and hinder our ability to relate to our partner in the present. Each person will create a Family Genogram, a map of their family tree going back generations, and will have an opportunity to share their family story. It is tremendously powerful to hear our partner speak of childhood experiences and to recount events that shaped their life. We gain fresh insight into our partners’ depth of character and gain deeper compassion for what they have been through. We will spend time identifying both the blessings and curses that flow down our family line and affect the way we love, show emotion, ask for what we need and deal with problems and conflict. As we discover ways to heal wounds from the past, we are freed up to bring a deeper, truer self to our current partnership. This seminar will include a ritual to release wounds and negative patterns from our past so that we can relate more openly together.
